Following the construction of a slipway at Wellington Dock, in the 1840's, a series of new buildings were erected on Slip Quay, the seaward side of the dock. The buildings were used by ship builders and repairers until the present century. During WWII the building were used for maintenance and repair for the Motor Torpedo Boats. The buildings have now been converted into the De Bradelei Wharf shopping complex.(1-2)
