A building assessment was carried out in the warehouses on Cambridge Road in 1996 ahead of proposals to convert them into retail outlets.

Taken from the source (1996): Building five is a long rectangular warehouse immediately to the south-west of building four and consists of a yellow stock brick structure (English bond) with a pitched roof of corrugated asbestos sheeting painted red-pink supported on a framework of steel girders. A brick cross wall towards the north-western end of the building sub-divides the structure and creates a small office overlooking the Slip Quay, with a basement store room with a large sliding door opening onto the Quay. The concrete floor of the main part of the building to the south east stood at a higher level than the basement adjacent to the quay and this reflects the natural slope of the ground here. Externally, the north west wall is pierced by a blue wooden sliding door, with a wooden framed window immediately to the north-east. There is another wooden framed window at first floor level relating to the office above. The north east and south-west walls have been largely replaced by steel girders to allow through access to buildings four and six. The south east wall is pierced by a large sliding door, painted blue, with a louvre opening above. The final use of this building was for storage of the Dover Bronze Age boat. (1)
