A saltmound of medieval or post-medieval date is visible as a mixture of an earthwork and a soilmark on 1940s RAF vertical aerial photography [1]. The mound is trapezoidal in plan; its long axis measures 130m (NNE-SSW) and the width tapers from 80m on its NNE side to 32m on its SSW side. Examination of modern aerial photographs suggests the earthwork elements of the feature have now been plough-levelled [2].The precise date of the features is unclear but they are likely to be medieval in date. This was not visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [3].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [4].

This is likely to be one of the 16 saltmounds referred to in TR 26 SW 5.
