A saltmound of medieval or post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork on 1940s RAF vertical aerial photography [1]. The mound is kidney-shaped in plan and measures 19m (N-S) x 35m (E-W) and is seahorse-shaped in plan. Examination of modern aerial photographs indicates that this feature has since been levelled [2]. The precise date of the features is unclear but they are likely to be medieval in date. The feature was not visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [3].
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [4].
This is likely to be one of the 16 saltmounds referred to in TR 26 SW 5.
