Full description

If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

A series of trenches visible as fresh earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. Three types of feature are visible; five short trenches (suppressed V-shaped in plan), a small rectangular foxhole and a small trench system (Y-shaped in plan). It is not clear if any features survive at this location as the area is now covered by dense scrub.

These features are interpreted as relating to military training as Canterbury Golf Course and surrounding land was used for training in WWII.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [2].
