A camp built for the construction of Richborough Port, a major WWI port serving allied troops on the Western Front. A camp built for the construction of Richborough Port (MWX43487), a major WWI port serving allied troops on the Western Front [1]. It is not clear what the components of this facility were, but they are likely to have been fairly temporary in nature and have included accommodation, perhaps tented or hutted, for the workers who built the port. The facility appears to have been removed by WWII and RAF vertical aerial photography from the 1940s shows this area as grassed over and devoid of buildings [2-3]. There are several areas where a network of faint linear marks are visible in the grass which are probably derived from buildings or structures associated with the depots [2-3].
