Industrial Alcohol Store, excavated in 2013 in advance ofdevelopment of the northern site of Leigh Gunpowder Mills. From the report:
"The ether plant which was destroyed in 1917 lay next to the area investigated as Area 3, Rowley (2009a) marks the adjacent building as the Alcohol Store. It seems likely that both would have been destroyed. These were rebuilt, and finally demolished in the 1960s (Rowley 2009a, 141). Area 3 revealed flat areas of concrete separated by voids which probably once held walls. The remains revealed in Area 3 were so limited as to reduce interpretation to overlaying on map evidence and the evidence from the 1916 OS map redrawn and researched by John Donald (Rowley 2009a)."
