The Klondyke works was built in 1898 as part of extension to railway carriage works which was continued in 1906 with the construction of the Kimberley works (since demolished).

Large brick single storey shed with pair of 3 bay gable ends and smaller workshop range on east side. Paired pedimented gables on S and W sides. Six tracks entered via doors in the N end. Roof of main shed features original iron trusses supported on central row of cast iron columns. The works were used for the regular repair and maintainance of rolling stock. (1 & 2)

The works went out of use in 1982 and from that time have been progressively demolished.
