[TR 28586550] Sited from plan. A group of pits or ditches were uncovered on either side of the roundabout at the A253 and A299 at Monkton, during the construction of the Monkton gas pipeline in 1982. From the upcast chalk rubble fill of these features were obtained fragments of the upper stone of a rotary quern in Neidermending lava, the grinding surface having a pecked finish. The spoil heap also yielded Belgic and RB sherds as follows: Canterbury sandy ware, Belgic grog-tempered wares, one of which is a two-handled flagon copying Hofhiem imports. As a group this material can be assigned a range, cAD 65-85. (2)

Possibly associated with TR 26 NE 61. (4)
