Monument details

HER Number:TR 26 NE 61
Type of record:Monument
Name:Rectilinear enclosures and associated features, Monkton

Summary

A complex of rectilinear enclosures was identified from aerial photgraphs located just to the north of Monkton by the roundabout. The south boundary of this complex appears to abut onto a curvilinear feature, possibly a trackway. There are also three other linear features and what appear to be the remains of a number of pits. It is probable that these features are associated with a number of Romano-British pits and ditches found at this location during the construction of a pipeline in 1982 (see TR 26 NE 81).
