At least three and possibly as many as five graves containing inhumation burials were discovered during an archaeological evaluation at Springhead. The graves were aligned approximately Northwest to south east, with only one example of possible intercutting. All of the graves were backfilled with natural brickearth. Four probable nails were associated with one of the burials suggesting that the inhumations were in coffinds which have since rotted away. Another of the graves appears to have been cut buy a ditch containing early roman pottery sherds, suggesting that these burials have an early roman date. (1)
