Full description

If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

Archaeological investigations carried out as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link works in 2001 discovered a spread of burnt flint and charcoal. It was located within the river channel in the central part of the excavation area. This was cut by a later prehistoric ditch to the east and by the base of the (Roman) river channel to the west. No datable artefacts were recovered from this deposit, but a Late Neolithic date is considered most likely. (1)
