During excavations undertaken in 2007/8 by Wessex archaeology ahead of development at Springhead, a trackway represented by at set of parallel north-south aligned ditches was uncovered with either a late Medieval or early post medieval date. The date is based on the fact that their alignment differs from the earlier Later Prehistoric/Roman field system that also crosses the site, and part of it cuts an Anglo Saxon cemetery. Only a small quantity of brick and tile was found in association with the ditches. The ditches were generally 1m wide and up to 0.3m deep and were approximately 3m apart. (1) The trackway was also observed during excavations carried out to the north (2-3)
