Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. Within property 9 which was located along the west side of Watling Street, a pit containing a neonate burial was uncovered. The pit was one of a cluster located in the south east corner of the property and was one of the earliest in the sequence and likely dates to the late first -early second century. (1)
