The length of barbed wire is centred at TR 0839 2390, and is visible for approximately 845m SSW to NNE from TR 0828 2353 to TR 0846 2435. These defences appear to have been contemporary with a group of three separate anti-aircraft gun batteries located just behind the line of barbed wire itself (Monument Number 1533923); a group of three further gun emplacements against the edge of Marine Parade (Monument Number 1477737); a possible minefield (Monument Number 1533969); and two lines of anti-invasion scaffolding (one beside the road, and one further out on Romney Sands: Monument Numbers 1533929, 1533948).

By the time of vertical aerial photographs of 1946; the single line of barbed wire appears to have been removed (1-2).
