Two circuits of barbed-wire entanglement are visible northeast of Richborough fort at Richborough Sluice [1]. The barbed-wire circuits run from the railway line to both the River Stour and to the Richborough Stream. Those lying east of the railway line also overlie the traces of tramways assocaied with the WWI military site of Richborough Port (MWX?????).

The entanglements were removed following the war and are not visible on recent aerial photography [2]. They are one of several WWII defensive features recorded around Richborough fort, see Related Monuments.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [3].
