Full description

If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

Freshly constructed banking is visible flanking either side of a stream immediately north of the River Stour on early 1940s RAF vertical aerial photographs [1]. These appear to be derived from fortification of the stream associated with its use as a stop line during WWII. The banks appear to have been levelled after the war and are not visible on recent aerial photographs of the area [2]. There do not appear to have been any other elements to the stop line in this area. These features are a segment of a stop line running between Cliffs End & Minster, further parts of it are recorded to the east as MWX43387.

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [3].
