Summary:This volume commemorates 62 years (1952-2014) of rescue archaeology in the County, with some personal refections (B. Philps). It deals with 20 archaeological sites largely spread across the County and resulting from programmes of trial excavation or rescue work as situations demanded. The sites range from Prehistoric to the 16th century, but also includes recent work in Madeira in co-operation with Portuguese archaeologists.
