Title:The Dover Western Docks Revival; Geoarchaeological Assessment. Stage One: Review of Historic Ground Investigation Data
Originator:Royal Haskoning
Date:2015
Summary:This document outlines the results of a review of historic ground investigation data that constitutes Stage one of the Geoarchaeological Assessment. The principal objective of the five stage geoarchaeological assessment is to determine whether any significant archaeological, palaeoenvironmental and geoarchaeological remains are present within the footprint of the Wellington Dock Navigation Cut, at the landward end of the Prince of Wales Pier and within marine areas that may be impacted by the DWDR scheme. In October 2014, RHDHV undertook a high-level review of all relevant historic ground investigation data held by Dover Harbour Board (DHB) and identified 18 documents relevant to the DWDR development area. These documents were further assessed for the purposes of the archaeological review presented in this report. Documents relating to six historic surveys were found to be relevant to the geoarchaeological review and are here assessed.
