| Summary: | The earlies visible work is parts of two blocked Norman windows on the North side of the vave, fairly high up in the wall. This suggests an unaisled nave of the late 11th or early 12th century. By later 12th century the churh had acquired narrow nave aisles and transepts. On the South side the fine 12th century arch between the aisles and transept still survives, but the upper wals of the transept were completely rebuilt in 1751. On the North sode of the lower part of the shell of the North transept survives with pilaster buttresses and a fine West doorway. The East wall of this transept may earlier have had an extended santuary, but this was later removed. The visible remains of this of this re of a blocked arch and impost and bar- stops at the base of the inner jambs - suggesting a 13th century date. |
