Two brick built structures encountered in an evaluation trench within Chatham Dockyard. They feature on maps from 1814 onwards. They were 20 feet long and 4 feet wide (internally). They were filled with post-medieval industrial waste (ash, clinker and slag) and 20th century building rubble. At the base of each was a layer of wood chips, probably a direct product of sawing (1).
