A brick built structure encountered in an evaluation trench within Chatham Dockyard. It features on maps from c.1820 onwards, where it is described as a sawpit and later as a sawyers shed. It was 6.11m wide. There were ashlar pads that probably supported the uprights for the roof structure (1).
