A small chalk quarry, believed to date from the 18th century, still exists in the garden of 'The Coves' in St Peters. A date of 1784 is carved into the wall. It is very overgrown and the working faces have collapsed. Two tunnels were driven underground and are connected by a cross passage.(1)
