Site of Second World War gun emplacement, part of the Capel Battery, which mounted 2 x 4.5in guns. On cliffs East of Capel-le-Ferne, and South of West Hougham. The available aerial photographs which cover this area have been examined as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2), and this site has been described as a part of its parent record, Lydden Spout battery (NMR: 1423481).
