This stretch of Second World War beach scaffolding is centred at TR 0937 2781, and runs along the beach for approximately seven kilometres continuously from TR 0854 2454 (Littlestone-on-Sea) to TR 1157 3061 (Dymchurch).

It is contemporary with a range of other Second World War defences, such as an emergency coastal battery (Monument Number 1485888), pillboxes (Monument Numbers 1535202, 1427461, 1535487), and anti-tank cubes (Monument Number 1535062). This anti-invasion scaffolding continues along the coast to either side of this stretch. That scaffolding has been recorded as Monument Numbers 1533948 and 1533067 due to apparently deliberate breaks which make it non-continuous along the entirety of the coast.

By the time of vertical aerial photographs of 1946, the anti-invasion beach scaffolding appears to have been removed (1-2).
