Summary

A single line of Second World War barbed wire is visible on aerial photographs of 1942 as a structure crossing Coast Drive, at the southern end of St Marys Bay. This feature was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East RCAS NMP project.

The straight line of barbed wire is centred at TR 0893 2687, and extends for approximately 185m SSW to NNE, from Coast Drive in the south, through a line of anti-invasion scaffolding (Monument Number 1535064) to the boundary between the properties named The Springs and Greycot.

By the time of the vertical aerial photograph of 1946; the barbed wire appears to have been removed (1-2).
