A gas works located close to the coast in Seabrook is only fully visible on Epoch 1 (1877) of historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping [1]. The site has been partially redeveloped by the Epoch 2 (1899) edition [2] and fully redeveloped with housing by Epoch 4 (1946) [3].
According to the Epoch 1 edition [1], the extent of the site covers a maximum area of 90m by 62m.
The feature was given a monument polygon (mapped from the Epoch 1 (1899) edition [1]) during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
