Salt pans first visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition and also visible on the Ordnance Survey 1946 edition. The earlier mapping labelled an area to the E as salt pans, while an area to the W was wooded. The later mapping recorded the W area as containing salt pans, though the E area also appeared to contain similar features. The site was seen to be in use as an oil storage depot in 2007. It was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.

Salt pans first visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [1] and also visible on the Ordnance Survey 1946 edition [2]. The earlier mapping labelled an area to the E as salt pans, while an area to the W was wooded. The later mapping recorded the W area as containing salt pans, though the E area also appeared to contain similar features. The site was seen to be in use as an oil storage depot on Google Earth photography taken in 2007 [3]. It was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
