A rectangular WWII pillbox (4m by 3.6m) is located on the top of the Betteshanger Colliery spoil heap, NW of Deal and has been mapped from military aerial photographs taken in April 1946 [1]. It was first visible in this series, but presumably was built between 1940 and 1941. The colliery closed in August 1989 and later became a country park, Foulmead. The structure is no longer visible by August 2003 [2].
A transcription of this feature recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
