WWII anti-aircraft obstructions located on Sandwich Flats beside the River Stour, and visible as earthworks on military aerial photographs. The levelled earthwork remains of several single lines and crossing lines of anti-aircraft obstructions that are comprised of a length of trenching flanked on either side by mounds formed using the upcast ditch material. These types of features were prevalent during WWII and were constructed on areas of low lying land on which an aircraft could potentially land.

These features were first visible in February 1942 [1] and have been digitised from photographs taken from this series along with others taken in January 1942 [2] and January 1945 [3]. A section of the obstacles (centred on 633983E, 160472N) are truncated by a freshly excavated stop line, visible in January 1945 [3]. However, the remaining anti-aircraft obstacles are still visible in January 1946 [4] and gone by April 1950 [5].
