Full description

If you do not understand anything on this page please contact us.

An area of eroding peat, partially submerged at low tide. There are fallen tree trunks, roots and branches in the peat. It is located right on the edge of the channel and partially awash even at low tide. It is difficult to gauge its true dimensions because it is clearly extending into the channel under the water. The polygon drawn and associated with this record only covers the accessible area of the forest. (1)

Date of monument amended to Mesolithic to Neolithic based on advice from Francis Wenban-Smith that it was unlikely to be Palaeolithic in date.
