During the construction of the offices of the Phoenix brewery on the corner of Castle Street and Dolphin Lane in the first half of the 19th century, it is said that a log canoe was discovered. Material of a Roman date relating to the possible site of the Roman Harbour has been located at a number of locations in close proximity to this possible canoe. (1)
