Aerial photographs taken during and just after the Second World War show a heavy anti-aircraft battery on the east side of Haine Road. It comprised a battery and two rows of three huts with blast wall protection on the south-east and north-east and a cluster of nissen huts to the north. By 1950 the entire site had been dismantled and levelled. (1, 2)

Elements of the battery were excavated in 2013 during an archaeological evaluation at the site. A concrete foundation was discovered that probably related to an entrenched position such as a gun emplacement or blast wall. Corrugated iron sheeting may have related to a revetment of an earthen bank. Square cut trenches were also found that may have been part of access trenches. A number of finds, such as a gas mask pipe, light bulbs and window glass, probably related to the nearby Nissen huts. (3)
