Name: | External courtyard of the Roman military bath house, Dover |

Summary
During excavations undertaken in Dover town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, a Roman military bath house was excavated and recorded. A spacious courtyard was located in the south west quadrant of the complex, occupying an area of about 350m squared. It was flanked on the south and west sides by mortared flint walling which survived to a maximum height of 2.86m. Investigation of the internal features of this courtyard was limited but an extensive area of pebble metalling was located and it is likely that this would have covered the whole area. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information).
