Medieval walls were located during excavations near the Church of St. Martin Le Grand, in 1955. The walls uncovered are on the same alignment as the known walls of the church and so may be contemporary. Three walls were identified in total, two of the walls are of two periods; primarily constructed of chalk and mortar, secondarily of flint and mortar. The third has just one phase and is constructed of flint and mortar. (1)
