Summary
Areas G-K 'derive from considerable wartime expansion of the factory to meet the abrupt increase in demand for explosives' (the HM Cordite Factory, for producing guncotton and converting guncotton to naval cordite). Area J is located in the middle of the eastern edge of the site, above areas I and H. The south-east part is 'occupied by rows of large sub-rectangular earthwork traverses similar to those in Area H'. The north-west portion contains 'a long east-west alignment of large cordite processing buildings, including four long, standing buildings subdivided into multiple compartments'.
