Areas G-K 'derive from considerable wartime expansion of the factory to meet the abrupt increase in demand for explosives' (the HM Cordite Factory, for producing guncotton and converting guncotton to naval cordite). Area H occupies the south-eastern corner of the explosives works site. Most notabvly, it houses the remains of seventeen guncotton drying stoves, laid out in a grid pattern, each with large sub-rectangular earten traverses.
