In the south-west corner of the site, bisected by a large drainage ditch. The northern section is dominated by five parallel rows of small structures, thought to have been small huts or sheds, probably for packing explosives (59-61, 72-78, and 83-93). Several other structures were also present, including building 95, a small brick-built barrel-vaulted structure interpreted as an 'expense magazine' for holding 'particularly sensetive small explosive components'. South of the ditch were six dispersed 'danger buildings' each surrounded by a 'large protective earthen traverse'. This part of the site was developed later on in the lifetime of the factory.
