This feature is recorded in the English Heritage Historic Area Assessment for St Mary Hoo Parish. The report states: "A small group of houses to the north of the church include a pair of rendered two-storey cottages, Sage Cottage and Church Cottage, that share a hipped tiled roof. These possibly date from the 18th century or earlier and appear to have been a single property in the 19th century. This was subsequently unevenly divided and the smaller western property (Church Cottage) was extended to the west). "
[Note - on the modern map (2016 and on google streetmap researched in 2016, Sage Cottage appears to be the western cottage as marked by its name near the front door.] (1)
