A clay pit and neighbouring brickworks was established at Naccolt in the late 19th century. It was expanded in the early 20th century to include tramsways and kilns. It is known that brick-making has been carried out at Naccolt since the 11th century though it is not known if this is the same site as the early works. These works are not visible on the 1st editions OS map (1862-1875) but first appear on the 2nd edition map (1897-1900). The site was expanded in the early 20th century to include kilns and tramways. It is believed to have gone out of use in the late 20th century.

“The Naccolt Tile Kilns formed part of the Royal Manor of Wye and were given by William the Conqueror to found the Abbey of Battel and the Abbot and his brethren became large manufacturers of Tiles here, not only for their own use but for sale.”
