Chartham Paper Mill shown on 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition OS maps. A mill has existed at Chartham since the Domesday Book. There was a fulling mill by 1438 and paper production started by 1730. It has been claimed that tracing paper was invented at the mill and it is still manufactured there. Paper Mill ceased trading in September 2022.
