Layers relating to the Anglo-Saxon cemetery directly overlay the latest Roman deposits. The bone evidence suggested a continual use of the site as a cemetery during the Anglo-Saxon period, the later graves disturbing those of an earlier date, indicating an absence of grave markers. Coffin nails were found but the majority of the burials seem to have been without. The age and gender range of the remains indicated this was not a monks cemetery. Two items which must have been buried as grave goods were recovered, a 6th or 7th century kidney shaped buckle and an 8th century scramasax.
Anglo-Saxon architectural fragments and window glass were found, probably deriving from the demolition of the early structure in 1070.
