Summary

The Chapter house is a large rectangular shaped building situated immediately to the north of the north Transept of the Abbey Church. Orignally built as a Chapter House, Vestiarium/treasury and Library by Abbot Hugho I between 1099 and 1124.The Chapter House was re-built by Abbot Ralph Bourne between 1324 and 1332. Eventually the chapter house along with many other buildings were demolished c. 1541 soon after the Abbey was surrendered at the Dissolution in 1538.

The Chapter house is a large rectangular shaped building situated immediately to the north of the north Transept of the Abbey Church. Orignally built as a Chapter House, Vestiarium/treasury and Library by Abbot Hugho I between 1099 and 1124.

The Chapter House was re-built by Abbot Ralph Bourne between 1324 and 1332. Eventually the chapter house along with many other buildings were demolished c. 1541 soon after the Abbey was surrendered at the Dissolution in 1538.
