In 1406, Archbishop Thomas Arundel, provided his two priests, who were to chant for him in his newly founded chantry chapel in the Cathedral, with a house on the south side of the Precincts. On the south side of the Cathedral churchyard, opposite St. Michael's chapel, were two mean ancient timber built houses, which were built and appropriated for the dwellings of the two priests by Archbishop Arundel.

The advowson, donations, etc, of the Chantry was sold and conveyed by the Archbishop, and the Prior of the Convent to Henry VIII by indenture at the Dissolution. The site of the Houses were later occupied by the organist's house.
