Little information has been found to date regarding the barn.

A large barn, the Archbishop's Barn is known to have been situated along the north side of the Outer Court next to the bakehouse. The Parlimentary Survey of 1647 records a barn over six bays on north side of the Outer Court of the Archbishop's Palace, just south-west of Green Court Gate. This was still standing when a watercolour painting by Jo Bulman was made in c. 1776, which clearly shows the barn and gateway. The Barn site later became Grange House.
