The Two Bells inn was a few doors away from Notley street. From a brewer's rent book in 1823 the innkeeper then was Mr Holman. Five years later it was Richard Wraight and one year later Richard Kemp. The innkeeper named in the 1855 directory was Miss E Hammond and in 1856 George Bradford was warned for being open out of hours.

In 1847 the directory named George Bradford as innkeeper but at that time the inn was called Delmar's Arms. The building used for this inn was, apparently, Hardres dairy Stores. In 1889 the innkeeper was Mrs Tilley and in 1895 Mr E Tilley. The Two bells closed in 1937.
