Clinch Street mentioned in the High Halstow Parish Historic Area Assessment by English Heritage as part of its wider Hoo Peninsula study. Clinch Street (also spelt Clench St) is noted as a cluster of farmsteads to the north west of the village in the 'Development before 1800' section of the report. Clinch Street edged a tract of land known as 'The Mean' (historically Le Meneparish). Control over the area was shared by High Halstow and St Mary Hoo, prompting a dispute over the right to tithes in the 15th century, resulting in an ill-defined boundary between the two parishes. This was marked by a fence in the 1820s, when the division was further to the east, putting more of Fenn Street hamlet within High Halstow parish. The modern boundary appears to have been agreed in the early 20th century. The Clinchstreet Farm was once owned by Henry Pye Junior (3)
