AOC Archaeology carried out recording work following scrub clearance on the eastern side of Ingress Park. A flint sided platform was observed centred at NGR TQ 5951 7528. The southern end of the platform is 2.3m wide, and stands at 5.60mOD, roughly level with the base of the sunken path beneath the bridge. The northern end negotiates a brick cottage which may slightly pre-date it. Here the platform broadens to 6.4m wide and stands at 5.2mOD. The top of this platform was recently overgrown with shrubs and semi-mature trees, which have caused some destruction of its fabric, but generally, the structure is in good condition. The sides of the platform are constructed of flint walls. The walls are constructed of closely set horizontal courses of flint. Around 60% of the flints are faced to give a generally dark regular finish to the wall, which is not dissimilar to sections of the estate wall on London Road. (1)
