Monument details

HER Number:TR 36 NW 39
Type of record:Monument
Name:Probable Bronze Age barrows, near Mount Pleasant, Minster parish

Summary

The cropmarks of at least three ring ditches have been identified in fields to the north of Minster. These features were identifiable in aerial photographs taken for the Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments of England to classify cropmarks across Kent. They had been previously sighted on several occasions by aerial photographs and land survey. There appears to be the remains of at least two single ditched ring ditches and one double ditched ring ditch. There also appear to be internal features in at least one of these, and a further number of ploughed out features are located in the area. It is suspected that these represent the remains of Bronze Age barrows, with evidence of interconnecting rectangular shaped ditches.
