Summary

Courtstairs Chine is an ornamental walkway from the cliff top to the undercliff promenade, which was opened in 1926 by the Prince of Wales. It includes a rock garden made of Pulhamite stone.

A large quantity of artificial Pulham stone was imported to create this rock garden which provides a sheltered environment for Berberis, Buddleia, Deutzia, Colutea, Fuchsia, Olearia, Spartium and Tamarix: all hardy shrubs which are able to withstand a coastal situation.Courtstairs Chine is situated at the western end of the Westcliff at Ramsgate. It was developed as an ornamental walkway from the cliff top to the under-cliff promenade and, as part of the St. Laurence complex, it was declared open by the Prince of Wales in 1926.

Courtstairs Chine is an ornamental walkway from the cliff top to the undercliff promenade, which was opened in 1926 by the Prince of Wales. It includes a rock garden made of Pulhamite stone.
